12 teams from Sussex contest for honours at Crawley Festival in three pools of 4. Placed in Pool 2 Horsham played well winning close encounters against Eastbourne, East Grinstead and hosts Crawley to top Pool 2 unbeaten. This put Horsham into the Gold Group playoffs to contest for overall top spot. The first game in the Finals was versus Heathfield winners of Pool 1, this closely contested encounter saw Heathfield take and early lead. Both teams evenly matched Tom Bicknell gathered the ball and managed to bulldoze his way over the Heathfield try line to equalise just before half time. The second half both teams evenly match in the rucks Horsham running game improve, in a move involving several players with some great passing rugby Horsham sorced to take a slender lead. This closely contested the ball came loose close to the Horsham try line, this was picked up by Ben Bovey who saw a gap on the wing and he run the length of the pitch for all he was worth to outpacing Heathfield to score the final try for a well fought 3-1 win. Next game saw Hove beat Heathfield to ensure the final game of the day would decide the overall winner. Hove bigger size allowed them to camp out near the Horsham try line but Horsham dogged defence held strong. With excellent runs from Oliver Sharp breaking the gain line time and time again allowed Horsham backs to passing game to threaten Hove resulting in the first try. The second half just as closely fought, Horsham's ferocious tackling keeping their noses in front. The second deciding try came from Scott Saunders who at scrum half picked the ball from the base of the scrum and ran wide around the Hove defence to put the result beyond doubt 2-0. All Horshams squad of 14 players excelled, a brilliant result to come away with the winners trophy unbeaten on the day. Thomas Bicknell played his best rugby to date at Crawley to earn himself the Horsham Player of the Tournament
