HEG Barbars shine 40-24 away at Crowborough
Another visit away following on from our strong performance at Heathfield, to Crowborough in East Sussex. What is it with these East Sussex boys ? Again a big pack to battle against - would we get it wide this time ? Crowborough due to injury could only field 13 so of course in the spirit of rugby and if the tables were reversed, we obliged losing the flankers off the scrum from our squad of 17. And many thanks to Max Clark who solely represented EG in our HEG squad.
A strong performance all round with players showing great flexibility in positions and a willingness to adapt. 1st half consistent tackling secured our line but we tended to lose ball going into contact and get counter rucked a few times. We ended the first half 14-12 after a rare missed tackle allowed Crowborough to remain in contention. Starting the second half with the same drive and commitment we pressed on managing to build a more comfortable lead and finally bring home the score 40-24. Great commitment and areas to work on.
