In first half we were learning – Jersey scored two good tries and a conversion. We defended well and Jordan Bell had a couple of good runs – admired by spectators but unfortunately also a bit too much by his team mates. Behind 12-0 at half time and we also lost Sam Minto and Tom Hamblett to an Achilles tendon and a bruised and burned middle finger.

Replacements Harrison Gould and Vincent Everett gave us the lift needed and moved the ball forward and the intensity and spectator screaming was so much different from the first half. Two formidable tries from Lewis Wilson and James Purbrick and a physically battered Jersey side ending with 14 players only gave us a fantastic finish to the game. If not by result - then by a strong belief in how well this game will serve us in the future.

The Jersey guys were big and it looked like they have been doing Movember since the beginning of the year – and one of them were even wearing Nike Superfly? However, we have the same muscles underneath, and it shows how well our fitness training is paying off. Jersey camped in their 22 all second half and if the game had been a little longer we could have won. If we keep improving our game management and can make the opposition tired earlier we can show a difference in this A league.

Man of the match was Vince Everett. Strong in the scrum, very strong when constantly showing his new team mates how to go forward and was also able to go down and support our full-back when he was left alone. Thanks to Vince and family for having him – next time hopefully we can give Vince a bit more game time.
