At the start of the day Crowborough sat 1 point and 1 place ahead of Horsham and the early exchanges indicated it was going to be a close fought contest. After a period of frantic off loading the home side settled down and played a more measured, well constructed game. They scored 3 tries in each half with 3 tries coming from the forwards and 3 from the backs - well balanced!
After a period of sustained pressure wing Declan Nwachukwu ran in the first try with hooker David Fennelly going over in the corner for the 2nd shortly afterwards. The 3rd try just before the break came from a counter attack from their own 22 which saw scrum half Josh Steggles throw a superb long pass to Nwachukwu on half way. He outpaced a number of defenders before passing inside to full back George Palmer to run in under the post. With fly half Callum Boswell converting twice the half time score was 19 - 0.
The second half saw tries from wing Ben Birch and both 2nd rows Tom Hooley and Aiden Plumpton. A further conversion from outwide by Boswell made the final score 36 0. Crowborough were extremely committed and physical and never gave up. Following his season long absence through injury wing Liam Mcgivern came off the bench and showed his blistering pace and was unlucky not add a couple of tries, only being denied by excellent cover defence by Crowborough.
A very good all round team performance that bodes well for the rest of the season.
