With only a few training sessions completed in readiness to the season there was a positive feel about the Horsham side who were looking forward to the game against Camberley.
Building on pre-season we saw some great hands, fast running backs and physicality in the forwards to match the well drilled opposition.
There was some entertaining rugby being played by both sides but once Horsham spun the ball out wide their back line had too much pace for the Camberley defence.
In a hard fought match tries were scored by Eddie Grogan, Alfie Burchfield and Jodan Bell, following a chargedown, who also converted.
Camberley responded with 3 tries but tired in the last 20 minutes where Horsham had further scores from Joe Blake, Charlie Best and Jake Donovan as well as a Blake Conversion.
It was not all perfect, and there are some areas of development for the coaching team, but some of the rugby played showed great promise for the season ahead.
