Despite spending nearly all of the first half in the Crowborough 22, Horsham managed to blow 5 or 6 clear overlaps through white line fever and poor execution. It was only the deadly finishing of wing Declan Nwachukwu which saw Horsham go into the break leading 17 - 0 through his hat trick of tries and a conversion from Cam Allan.
It didn't get much better in the second half as more clear cut chances went begging for similar reasons and Horsham even put the ball down on the 5 minute line thinking they'd scored a try (the blushes of the culprit will be spared here but we all know who it was). Crowborough pounced on this poor play and scored a couple of tries through their pacy back 3, though Horsham contributed hugely to this with poor tactical kicking and poor tackling. The one highlight was Nwachukwu's 4th try (converted by Allan) which saw him take an offload from lock Robin Holt in his own 22 and beat numerous defenders to score under the post. Horsham know they will need to be much better than this over the coming weeks.
