A concise report this week as the celebrations have left me rather jaded today!
Another good response to selection enabled Horsham to field a strong team in this important fixture. With the original away game cancelled by Horsham due to a lack of players meant the reverse fixture was swapped from a Home to Away game.
For the second week in a row the game was played on quite a soggy surface but again there was no wish to cancel or postpone. Bognor won the toss and elected to play in the slightly swampier end and signaled their attacking intent with a strong surge up the pitch from the kick off but it was a series of infringements at the breakdown which allowed Bognor to get the first score. This was short lived as Bryn was able to capitalise on an error forced by a Horsham pack which was starting to get the edge in the scrums. Bognor quickly responded as yet more inability of the Horsham team to contest the breakdown to the satisfaction of the referee enabled the effective rolling maul of Bognor to score what was their last try. Horsham were now starting to get in to their stride and started using the conditions to greater effect and parity was soon restored, and then got their noses in front just before half time.
Horsham added a further three tries in the second half with the pick being a drive over maul from the pack which saw Yorkie finishing off.
Thanks to Bognor for hosting and good luck to them for the rest of the season.
Special mention and thanks for the last minute availabilities, Gordon Sharp for his first game in 15 odd years and again the determination some in the team had to show to get there from various parts of the County.Right where's that paracetamol.........
