. It was a wet and muddy pitch which suited a more forwards biased game but it was agreed to play with only 3 up front and let the backs try to stretch their legs a bit. Worsham certainly did stretch theirs. Tunbridge never gave up but they were outclassed by a better organised & punishing attack and a defence that never looked like it would be pushed back into our own 22.
It didn't take long for the first try to come, a pop pass from Ellen to Chloe who went round the remaining defence and it opened the flood gates as the team relaxed into the game and used the space effectively.
The second try came quickly after, this time Ellen barn storming through to snatch a try under the posts and the 3rd followed with Elouise showing great power, bouncing off several defenders to push into open space and a short sprint to the line.
I should mention that Ellen finally got the reward for her kicking persistence at this point and slotted the conversion.
The 4th came only a couple of minutes later with Maya set free just outside the 22 after Millie held up the defence. Great pass and then run in from Maya for her first ever competitive try.
The Horsham girls got into try scoring mode to then score the next 3 tries in 5 minutes before half time, Grace burst from a tackle and didn't need the support around her to make the line (try converted). Katie followed this up 2 minutes later by side stepping her opponent beautifully to open up the defence for her first try and Kathryn showed real pace to go round the defence to round off the half 39-0 up.
The second half was the same as the first with Tunbridge never really leaving their own half and never looking like they would threaten the home try line.
Katie opened the 2nd half scoring almost immediately from kick off before Grace really got going, scoring 2 tries within 4 minutes and starting to rack up an impressive try tally (the 2nd of which was converted).
Kathryn then got back in on the act with the next try only 3 minutes later as the tunbridge girls failed to make their tackles as they tired and the Worsham girls were able to find or make gaps all over the pitch (Try converted)
Grace was up again shortly after, this time scoring 2 tries in 2 minutes, the 2nd of which came with a 4v1 overlap which grace didn't need to use as a quick side step and she dived under the posts (try converted).
The final try was for Katie to polish off as the girls ran riot all across the park leaving the opposition grasping at shirts
A really great game girls. Well done
Fi1nal score 80-0.
