The winners of the Team of the Month are the Under 15 Girls

I am delighted to announce that the recipients of the Oracle Contractors & Talenterprize Horsham Rugby Club Team of the Month for October are our Under 15 Girls.

Their Head Coach Adam Harman said the following:

"The thought or expectation of your future as a ‘player’ of Rugby sometimes takes many turns and unforeseen challenges, that you could never have dreamed of.

After my Daughter showing an interest in the game I love, the completion of my level 2 coaching course and my first season underway as lead coach for Horsham Under 15 Girls side. An immense sense of pride overwhelms myself when I speak of these players starting a new chapter at Horsham Rugby Club. The unseen battles of stigma regarding the female’s game is slowly dispersing and a new and exciting set of players are emerging from the fairer gender.

The previous season has seen the Under 15s Girls side set a very high bar for standard and commitment at Horsham Rugby Club with the new players hoping to continue, raise and set new standards are rife in this particular age group.

The beginning of the season sees fresh ‘new faces’ approach with a Parent/guardian in tow, looking very meek and worried about training, meeting new people and how to hit their first tackle. With the season well under way we see before us a very confident, robust and well working team which have evolved and have taken their first piece of silverware for the club! After taking some big scalps in the Old Guildfordian’s competition, London Irish and Sutton and Epsom in that bracket their abilities and quiet confidence is shining through. The team spirit and togetherness second to none and leaders within the group stepping up to the plate and seeing different faces taking on that role, they are a pleasure to coach and an exciting prospect for the future of the club.

As we know, Rugby can teach you many lessons and multiple life skills. Humility in both victory and defeat. Respect to fellow players and officials and the sense of belonging to your team or club. In conclusion the future for Women’s Rugby is looking bright for this small corner of West Sussex, very bright indeed!!"
