Horsham were not fired up before the start of the match & seemed very complacent taking a while to get into the game.
The positive attitude that has seen us start the season so well had deserted us and we struggled for large parts of the match. East Grinstead were big, physical, aggressive in the tackle area and were certainly up for a challenge wanting to knock us off our top spot.
A first half try by Lewis Wilson was cancelled out by an East Grinstead try making the half time score 5-5.
Horsham backs were static and very flat, with ball carriers isolated enabling East Grinstead to get plenty of turn over ball. Starved of possession we struggled to score. However, after a stern talking to by Coach Jones we picked up our game in the second half.
A strong physical run at the East Grinstead defence by James Purbrick produced a try with a further two trys scored by Ben Murphy playing at his rampaging best.
Two conversions by Jordan Bell made the final score 24-5.
A bonus point win was a relief at the end of the game where Horsham stuttered and misfired with East Grinstead making it a very difficult game.
We need to learn from this "ugly" win and continue the second part of the season how we started the first
