Lean forward when tackling!

We ended playing well and lost 41-19 during three times 20 minutes.

We started like fireworks and after around ten pair of hands George Carbone passed the try line. Our Champion boxer was cocky enough to run all the way to the put the ball between the posts – which made the conversion easy.
Reeds did get more and more possession and a well-deserved try made it 5-7 before our fast winger Craig Dent scored a try in the left corner. This didn’t stop Josh Medley who converted from afar, and we won the first 20 minutes 14-5.

The next 20 minutes we lost 26-0. Three reasons for that: Reeds did put on their strongest side, we forgot rugby was a contact sport and when we tackled we leaned back. And finally our bench warmers in the first game did discuss that these Reeds guys were too easy and nothing to be worried about – as Jed had warned.

Coach Jones’ team talk before the final 20 minutes was about getting back to basic. Tackle low and lean forward, come up together with our defensive line, talk to each other and show some passion.

Although we lost the last part of the game 10-5 – we played very well and showed what we are capable of. Reeds got two tries and we had one when Rasmus Madum stepped up.

All good and we need to show this in next Sunday’s league game where we welcome Eastbourne to defend our top position in the league table.
