The first 20 minute session ended 12-3 and Pulborough showed a lot of character and defended well against a rusty Horsham. Blaise Salle and Matt Lane-Miller scored in this session with Matt rounding off a neat midfield move. Aled also put in some intelligent kicks to gain field position which was pleasing to see.
In the next two 20 minute sessions the forwards gained a greater degree of possession with scores from Joey Walker, Jerome Downey (2), Cameron Allan (2) and Kyle Fairs with a hat-trick! Everyone seemed to have an eye for the try line but we squandered a number of overlaps and lost possession on a number of occasions at rucks and mauls.
Unfortunately, we only had three lineouts (won 2 - lost1) but Robin Holt, Simon Ashman, Aron Lewer and Tom Symes challenged well on the opposition lineout stealing four out of five.
Also good to see our latest recruit Freddie Perkins get off to a good start.
It was good to get off to a win but lots to work on.
Many thanks to Pulborough for giving us a game at such short notice and they played their part which is not reflected in the score.
