Lions maul St Francis

Horsham Lions played away on saturday to Crawley based St Francis. After the words of Horsham forwards coach (and ex st francis player) Billy Morten still ringing in their ears from Thursday night training, 'st Francis will be well up for this', they put on their shirts and took to the field.

As a well organised St Francis 1st XV began their warm up, the Lions too started their pre match prep.

As the game began, an early stop due to a bad injury to a St Francis player and the ref contemplating moving pitches, the paramedics arrived and play continued.

Early pressure saw the St Francis right wing dive for the corner, the try was disallowed due to him hitting the corner flag, this seemed to awaken the lions to the game and the set to work.

Then after the five meter scrum, the lions found themselves in the St Francis' 22 and a well moved ball down the line saw Alex Ickringill in the corner for his first of the day!

Tries then came from all positions of the park, Ciaran the young second row crashed over, along with a short range burst from Harman under the posts,a try from Dan Kelly and a fantastic individual effort from Rory Yeates, passing 4-5 St Francis players and dashing for the line, brilliant!
And not to forget the hatrick from Ickringill!

A special mention has to be to the Front Row, Nick Swann, Alan Jones and Jim Richards for sterling work at the 'coalface'.
