Horsham U10s "A" made their way down to Chichester for this Sunday's annual "Chi Done by Two Festival". Drawn in Pool B Horsham found themselves against unknown teams from Hampshire (Fareham Heathens & Portsmouth) as well as little played Worthing, as well as regular strong opposition - Chichester As. A strong start from Horsham allowed the backs to cross the try line several times with great links ups between Ben Cole, Scott Saunders and Tom Edevane to secure wins against Farehham and Portsmouth, but a strong Worthing side required substantial efforts from the forwards in rucking and mauling to secure a 3rd victory in the Pool games. Recent additions to the squad played well with a special mention for Lewis Hillicks who put in a strong perfomance on the day.
The final pool game against Chichester (which saw both teams competing for a place in the final) did not dispppoint in proving to be a very physcial game, with Chichester taking an early lead. Horsham heads however remained high and with some huge tackles from Jack Robison, Oliver Sharp and Alex Heath (amongst others) as well as strong forward play from Tom Bicknell and Jake Penticost, allowed Horsham to maintain pressure for an equaliser. Gaining in confidence against a bigger side, George Howard broke through from a line out to surge over the Chichester try line to win the game 2:1 and secured 1st place in the Pool to face old foes Pulbourgh in the final.
Horsham maintained their focus against Pulborough soaking up pressure and wining good ball from the scrums and rucks. Again, strong running from the backs secured a 4:1 victory to bring another trophy home. Congratulations to the squad - a great effort showing maturity and commitment.
