Horsham Lions played host to Sussex Police at the Coolhurst Ground on Saturday afternoon, with Horsham first XV on the field of dreams dealing with Folkestone, the Lions were moved to the top left- hand pitch for their top table clash. Knowing the close match they had at Brighton with the Police, there were no false illusions of what this game could be like. Selection in the week was hard due to injuries and unavailabilties.
With a surge from the kick-off, a penalty was awarded against a sussex police player who was deemed ‘off his feet playing the ball’ right in front of the posts, Jo Wilde stepped forward and slotted it with ease. Tries came from Wilde (2) a nice individual effort at the end of the first half, Yeates (1) assisted by an off load from Brew. And of course not to be out done by the backs, Ben Pirt went over for one. It wasn’t all one way traffic however, the Police called the changes with some new players taking to the field which saw them come to life crossing the line twice, the end result 25-12 to the Lions.
