Around 200 people including local MP Jeremy Quin descended on Horsham Rugby Club on Saturday to enjoy the Annual Touch Tournament.

The competition, now in its 9th year, attracts teams from all over the district and has become a mainstay of the club’s summer calendar.

Touch rugby, which is usually played by mixed teams, is gaining hugely in popularity. To add to the day teams were encouraged to wear fancy dress with a Best of British theme and duly obliged, with the best dressed award going to a team calling themselves ‘Fry Hard XXL’ dressed as English Cooked Breakfasts!

There was a Mini and Junior competition running in parallel with the player of the day being Scott Saunders age 14, and the youngest being Keira Hill age 7.

The weather stayed kind and aside from the famous Rugby Club BBQ there was music from local DJ Michael Fisher which made for a great atmosphere. Profits raised will be going to the club’s new Changing Rooms with the build set to commence in the summer of 2016.

Thank you to all the sponsors that provided raffle prizes namely The Bax Castle, The Black Jug, Coole & Haddock, Hartley Fowler, Hepworths, Meat in the Middle and Spice Nights.
