Having additional game time and a chance to shine - the boys who did not play last week were pitched against a big physical Bognor side and put up a spirited display in an entertaining game.
Although there were mistakes made on both sides this was a highly competitive and entertaining game played on a lovely sunny Sunday morning at the seaside.
Our pack held up at scrum time against a very big Bognor front row, although we struggled to win enough ball on occassions.
The backs linked well but there were a number of stray passes which broke down our attaching moves.
Having said that when we passed the ball out to our wings Craig Dent & John Matthews raced to the try line and managed to cross the whitewash on 5 occassions with Josh Medley & Olly Joles converting one apiece.
Bognor were pressing Horsham throughout the game & kept the scoreline close, using their big powerfull back line to drive at Horshams defence, but we held on for a deserved win by 8 points. - 29-21
With a number of the boys playing their first season of rugby mistakes were always going to be made but they are developing with every game & all the boys equiped themselves well.
It's a steep learning curve but as the boys have improved throughout the season there is now fierce competition for all places and the future looks bright for next season.
An impartial spectator from Pulborough RUFC commentated that Horsham backed off some tackles & at times had some sloppy passing but when they got it right & the ball went out to the wingers they finished off the trys suberbly well.
