Training currently taking place on Wednesday evening and Sunday morning at the Club ... see below for more information.          Next season's tour is likely to be to Barcelona during the Easter break, so keep the boys diaries clear!

General Information

Welcome to the Horsham U15s web page and a new season with a whole lot of new challenges to be met. Last season was another great season for the lads, which saw us build on the success of the previous season and finish third in the A league (just missing out on the Final on points difference).

Additionally, 8 lads successfully made it through the Sussex Development sessions and were selected for the Sussex Development squad.

The challenge for the squad this season is maintaining the high standards of last season and continuing to enjoy rugby.

We currently have a squad of just over 30 players but are always looking for new recruits and would welcome any interested player who will be in school year 10 from September.

All our fixture list are played on Sunday mornings, with kick-off being 11:00 (unless by mutual agreement).

Our goals are to …
• Play with Passion, Commitment, Pride and Enjoyment and to learn from both our success and disappointments
• Achieve success in the Sussex Junior League and
• Aid player development using quality coaching and appropriate game time

If you would like to know more please free to contact me as above.

Coaches Corner

Well it's less than a month now to the start of the new season and pre-season training is in full swing.

Player attendance at present is low ... so unless you are away on holiday, please do make every effort to attend as many sessions as possible.  Feedback from those at the last few sessions is that training is hard but enjoyable.

Player attendance at training, which was excellent last season, was a huge part of why we enjoyed such a good season with some notable victories ... the As beating Chichester, Hove and Haywards Heath in the league and the Bs gaining significant  wins over Crawley and Hastings & Bexhill.

See below for latest information on training dates/times, fixtures, Social and fund raising activities and tour.

Training

Training is currently taking place as follows ...
Wednesday evening from 6:30 to 7:30 at Horsham's Collhurst ground
• Sunday morning from 10:30 to 12:00 at Horsham's Collhurst ground

Attendance at training is key to developing team & unit play, as well as improving an individuals set of skills. Fitness, specific to rugby, is an essential element of training, as it is a key component of individual performance.

Whatever the weather, regular hydration is essential to player performance. By the time you feel thirsty it is already too late - you are de-hydrated. De-hydration's first affect is poor decision making, shortly followed by reduced muscle power & recovery. So don’t forget a drink!

Boots and trainers are recommended (the latter in the drier months for the longer runs) and don’t forget all body-armour and mouth-guard.

Training tops are recommended, if not essential, for all training sessions.  You can always take a layer off!
[During the colder months of the season plenty of layers including leggings should be worn.]

Tour

Last season’s tour, which was over the Easter weekend, was to Wales and though we were beaten by Birchgrove and the weather (which accounted for our other fixture), a superb time was had by all.

The highlights of the tour weekend being a visit to the Millennium Stadium, a visit to the Big Pit and other tour related items!

This season we are hoping to go abroad with Spain (and more specifically the outskirts of Barcelona) being favourite at present.

We currently plan to tour for 5 days / 4 nights on or around Wednesday 20th to Sunday 24th April.
These dates have been chosen to avoid taking the lads out of school (which we know would be a problem) and also to avoid League / County dates.

For further information, feel free to chat to Dai or any of the other Tour team.
