Membership & Registration - RFU Registration for Senior Players
Players are required to be registered to Horsham RUFC by the RFU in order to be eligible to play for the 1st XV. Although 2nd XV and 3rd XV matches do not require RFU membership as these leagues are administered by the Sussex RFU, the club's policy is to have all senior players registered and eligible to play for the 1st XV.
Paul Birch (Birchy) is Horsham's RFU contact for player registration. The process for registration is simple and is done electronically, but does need to go through him.
The RFU form is available to download at the bottom of this page, and includes two pages of guidelines. Players are required to print, complete and sign page 4 of the document in full and return to Birchy, either as a paper copy at the club or scanned and emailed to him at pc.birch@btinternet.com. Players should contact him if they have any queries about the form that are not clearly answered by the guidelines, as any errors in the form could result in the registration not being processed and that player not being eligible to play.
Allow two calendar weeks from submission of the form to Birchy for the registration process to be completed. To be clear, if an unregistered player wishes to be available for selection for the first league game of the season on the 15th September then the form must be submitted to the RFU by Friday 31st August at the latest.
During pre-season Birchy will be at the clubhouse on training nights with his laptop to register players (dates will be confirmed). Forms will also be available at the club.
Important: Club membership registration & payment of membership fees does not constitute registration. If you are unsure about your status speak to Birchy. It is the responsibility of the senior players to ensure that they are properly registered with the RFU.
