Clubhouse Development and Fundraising

The Club has a dedicated team of volunteers who are working on a plan to bring major improvements to the overall facilities at Horsham RUFC. The current plan has 3 main phases as follows :-

1. Replace the clubhouse roof, with work starting on May 22nd 2011.

2. Build a new changing room facility which will be connected to the existing clubhouse.

3. Totally refurbish the existing clubhouse, incorporating new facilities into the space taken up by the changing rooms.

In order to achieve these targets the Development Group is split into two teams:

The Building Team who are managing the planning and construction aspects to enable us to have a new roof in place in time for the start of the 2011/12 season, and;

The Funding Team who are working on raising the necessary funds. This includes obtaining donations from various Funding Bodies and Club Members and revenue from In House events and the RFU Grand Draw. The Team are also working on a DVD about Horsham Rugby Club. This will be filmed in December and, together with other material, will enable us to start approaching sponsors and other individuals.

The Development Fund currently stands at approx £30,000. However, there is an enormous amount of work to be done to raise the necessary funds; for example, we expect the new roof and associated work to cost the best part of £50,000.

This is a long term project for the Club and one which will only be achieved with the total support and commitment of everyone associated with HRUFC. However, once completed, we will have our fantastic grounds and some of the best facilities in Sussex.

Please make every effort to help in whatever way you can; even it is only selling some RFU Grand Draw tickets.

In particular, the Funding Team are now looking for people who can help with one or more of the following tasks:

• Dealing with correspondence and reports (e.g. thank you letters and requests).
• Recording activities (e.g. a schedule of sponsors with all relevant details and contacts with them).
• Updating website information.
• Helping organise fundraising events.
• Research (e.g. other club's fundraising activities or Funding Bodies requirements).
